Thanks to Gotthard! The history of the earth meant well to the Gotthard region. Between Göschenen and Airolo, the crystalline mountain range was created millions of years ago from the best gneiss. The pointed rock needles and bizarre shapes, such as the two camels, give the area a very special character. From small boulders to high rock faces, the grippy rock could hardly be nicer for climbing, bouldering and mountaineering.
The Andermatt holiday region offers much more, however. From leisurely hikes for the whole family to multi-day trekking tours such as the 4-Quellen-Weg or via ferrata, everyone will find the right outdoor activity here. Cyclists also get their money’s worth. While the surrounding alpine passes such as Gotthard, Furka, Grimsel, Susten, Nufenen, Oberalp and Lukmanierpass make the hearts of racing bike riders beat faster, mountain bikers and e-bikers will also find countless tours – from easy to challenging.
